Within the department, the Government Relations Manager manages the Political Action Committee (PAC), including membership retention and expansion, legal compliance, and communication to members. Additionally, they’ll develop an effective grassroots network by converting PAC members to grassroots advocates, create strategies and relationships on the local level, generate contributions to/from Publix’s federal PAC, and help comply with federal lobbying, legislative, and campaign finance laws within Publix’s eight state footprint.

 

In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.

 

What you’ll do:


  • oversee PAC administration, including FEC reporting, and share financial reporting to Government Relations leadership

  • organize PAC member recruitment, coordinate membership and board meetings, create communication materials, maintain the PAC database, and manage fundraisers and budgets

  • draft legislative updates, respond to member inquiries, and communicate with political associations

  • provide support to the Director of Government Relations through Local Government and legislation monitoring and developing internal grassroots strategies


  • Bachelor’s degree in Political science, Business, or equivalent experience

  • At least two years of government relations experience

  • basic skills in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively

  • ability to research and organize information effectively and accurately

  • ability to handle confidential information

  • ability to make independent decisions

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • human relations skills

  • analytical and research skills

  • willingness to travel primarily by car and work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as business needs require


  • experience in the federal or state government, or in a political campaign (internships are applicable)

  • three or more years of government relations experience

  • knowledge of company policies and procedures

  • knowledge of and understanding of federal campaign finance laws

  • proficiency with PAC filing support systems
