The Shipping Clerk Lead at the Corrugator Plant is responsible for overseeing the shipping department's daily operations, coordinating outgoing shipments, and ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery of products. This role serves as a team leader, providing guidance, support, and supervision to shipping clerks to optimize shipping processes and meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping Coordination:
Coordinate the scheduling, routing, and processing of outgoing shipments, including corrugated packaging products and related materials, to meet customer delivery requirements and production deadlines.
Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers to arrange pickup schedules, track shipments in transit, and ensure on-time delivery to customers.
Order Fulfillment:
Review shipping orders, packing lists, and delivery schedules to verify accuracy and completeness of shipments.
Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation of products for shipment, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs paperwork as needed.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of finished goods and shipping supplies, such as pallets, boxes, and packing materials, and reorder as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
Conduct periodic physical inventories and cycle counts to reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory accuracy.
Supervision and Training:
Supervise and train shipping clerks on shipping procedures, safety protocols, and use of shipping equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and shrink wrap machines.
Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to shipping clerks to ensure efficient and accurate execution of shipping tasks.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, customs requirements, and export/import laws governing the transportation of goods.
Conduct quality checks on outgoing shipments to verify product quality, quantity, and condition before loading onto trucks or carriers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, supply chain management, or transportation preferred.
Several years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Proficiency in shipping software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite for order processing, tracking, and documentation.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple shipments, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
Forklift certification and knowledge of shipping regulations and compliance requirements preferred.
Working Conditions:
The Shipping Clerk Lead role is typically performed in a warehouse or shipping/receiving area within the plant.
The job may involve frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending to handle shipments and operate shipping equipment.
Shift work and weekend availability may be required to meet shipping schedules and production demands.
