Position Summary
Outside sales of Millard Lumber products, obtain orders and/or contracts, and provides quality service to residential and/or commercial customers at job sites, customers place of business and/or residence.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Contact existing and prospective customers to meet and demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders. Recommend products to customers, based on customers needs and interests while providing quality customer service.
Meet sales quotas and works to exceed sales quotas.Provide consistent and timely follow up communication after every sale and/or contract to provide support and/or resolution.Participate with business organizations to develop product knowledge of current and new inventory.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.Answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.Prepare estimates and bids that meet specific customer needs. Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.Prepare sales contracts and order forms. Arrange and direct delivery of products and forward orders to appropriate department(s).
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or GEDTwo (2) years of proven sales experience in residential/commercial construction or with full line building material supplies preferred.
Other Requirements
Must Pass pre-employment drug screen and/or physicalValid driver license and good driving recordProficient in blueprint reading
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Be proactive and self-motivated in learning all product lines and in the Lumber industry.Ability to work as an individual and as a team to meet sales goals.Ability to develop new business and exceed sales goals.Excellent Verbal & Written Communication along with basic data entry/keyboard skills.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing high level of customer service. This includes customer needs and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.Willing to obtain other training if deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.At times, jobsite visits may be required, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
