Job Summary

Responsible for instructional facilitation of developmental education courses, facilitate math boot camps, develop curriculum and instructional materials, evaluate student success, assess program effectiveness, and recommend and implement changes. Serve all students as a TRUE Learning Community by promoting student success through student learning, student development, and student retention.

Responsibilities



  • Provide developmental education instruction to students in a group or on an individual basis at various locations. Provide information to students on program requirements. Evaluate students' progress and assess learning outcomes.

  • Provide developmental educational instructional support to adjunct faculty, including the development and presentation of professional development learning opportunities. Assist with student recruitment, orientation, assessment, data collection and retention and with regards to math boot camp and developmental education courses.

  • Develop course outlines, syllabi, and course materials for developmental educational programs and math boot camps that promote learning and fulfill the program objectives. Maintain students' records and grades; complete and return required reports to the appropriate office by due date. Share responsibility for maintaining the facilities and equipment in area utilized.

  • Assist Program Manager/Division Chair with the preparation of the program's budget, courses, class schedules, and related tasks pertaining to assigned responsibilities.

  • Prepare and participate in the program review process of the developmental education and math boot camp programs in accordance with the stated policies and procedures. May assist students with academic advising, financial aid, registration, and bookstore orders.

  • Participate in faculty development activities to update knowledge of the subject area and to remain current in the use of alternative teaching techniques and appropriate instructional technology. Represent the college and/or the program on a variety of internal and external committees for the college and community.

  • Perform other duties commensurate with the function and level of the position to include participation on college committees, and the recruitment and retention of students.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:




EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics/Mathematics Education


EXPERIENCE: Two years applicable experience in 7-12th grade or Higher Education

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



  • Knowledge and experience with methods and techniques of learning and instructional support.

  • Knowledge of the methods and practices used in conducting research and in report preparation.

  • Knowledge and experience with various instructional technologies.

  • Knowledge and skills in developing innovative instructional support programs, planning and evaluations, and implementing continuous improvement plans.

  • Knowledge and skills operating a variety of multimedia equipment, computer systems, hardware, and relevant software applications.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills working with a diverse population.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10 lbs) and easy-to-handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other facilities due to long periods of standing, sitting, and repetitive motion.


INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:


The position requires effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a diverse educational setting. This includes the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues, actively listen to students' needs, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity to create an inclusive learning environment. Collaboration with various stakeholders, effective communication with faculty, and adaptability in communication styles are essential for promoting student success through the Structured Learning Assistance program and aligning efforts with grant objectives.
