As a Practice Lead, Payment Channels & Liquidity Technology you will be responsible for leading the Payment Cannels, Messaging Channels and Liquidity Applications team. The Payment Channels & Liquidity technology team is responsible for delivering on changes for mission critical systems supporting Payment Initiation systems, Messaging Channels, and Liquidity & Sweep solutions across multiple technology stacks. This includes working closely with cash organization, both product and operations. You will also work closely with all levels of business and technology partners to implement and support key initiatives. You will manage professional staff and be responsible for right sizing the staffing needs to meet the demands of the business. Familiarity with Payment Initiation Channels, Messaging Applications, Liquidity & Sweep applications are all part of the job function. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring alignment of technology strategy with business strategy, stability and resilience for Payments Initiation Channels and Liquidity applications, ongoing product development, teams performance management and senior stakeholder management. You will work closely with Head of Global Cash Services, Head of Liquidity and Head of Initiation Channels. This role will make pragmatic decisions that balance strategic value, time to market, costs and technology risk.

What You Will Do

The Practice Lead, Payment Channels and Liquidity Technology is a strategic, collaborative individual who leads with a service mindset, takes ownership and:


  • Manages multiple systems units or functions through the direct management of a group of managers. Oversees, plans, and directs the activities for the units ensuring that the business objectives are being met.

  • Develops, implements, and communicates an overall strategy for the function to meet both the business unit and the corporation's strategic plan. Directs the activities of the area towards accomplishing those objectives.

  • Oversees the financial and staff resources including developing and managing capital and expense budgets and ensuring that resources are available to accomplish the objectives set for the area. Develops and manages programs to support risk management and compliance objectives.

  • Assumes full accountability for the performance/profitability of the area as compared to the plan.

  • Presents systems strategies to senior management, clients, and at industry forums.

  • Provides advice and counsel to partner areas regarding systems applications and developments. Identifies business needs and develops cost effective system solutions to solve issues.

  • Completes long range planning and project administration for systems which includes the development and implementation of department objectives and overall systems needs for the business unit.

  • Provides technical expertise to all areas of the bank regarding systems applications and development.

  • Understands partner's business structure and objectives to create or change an existing system ensuring the business problem will be resolved.

  • Reviews systems development project requests and coordinates schedules and related departmental activities.

  • Identifies changes in systems technology and interprets their meaning to senior management.


  • Keeps abreast of new systems technology to identify long range goals.

  • Holds the vendors accountable for the quality of deliverables and roadmap of the product

  • Assumes accountability for the performance management, career development, and diversity programs in assigned areas.

Knowledge and Skills Required

The Head of Payment Channels and Liquidity Technology must possess excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong project execution and management skills. The candidate must be able to work effectively with all levels of staff and management in IT and business unit as well as with vendors. The ideal Candidate will have the necessary leadership and organizational skills required in order to develop goals and to manage and motivate the team members to meet those goals. This position requires prior experience in IT leadership and managing full time and consulting/offshore teams across multiple locations. Knowledge of financial services industry and payment product processors, payment initiations and, FX and collateral management systems is preferred

The candidate should have experience of leading mission critical applications. The candidate should be experienced in leading engineering teams with Agile practices. The candidate should have knowledge of business strategy development which is necessary to provide long-term planning and to manage the performance of a major business segment. The candidate should have knowledge of bank products and services, usually acquired through related work experience, is required to oversee multiple system applications functions.
