SUMMARY: As the Director, Business Operations you will be responsible for managing Crowley Wind Services (CWS) capabilities, including vessels, capital equipment, key operational personnel, and suppliers. As the operational interface with Business Development, you will prepare operational and technical inputs, cost and schedules to support the commercial proposals. As a key member of the Operations team, you will play an integral part in the successful planning and execution of awards.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the operational interface with the Business Development Team.
• Participate in the development and assessment of new product and service offerings.
• Identify needs for new capabilities based on market trends, lead investigation and business case analysis including make/rent/buy assessment.
• Partners cross functionally with Procurement, to identify and contract with key vendors and suppliers.
• Maintain the Resource Utilization Plan to ensure maximum utilization, on time delivery, and optimal cost position of Assets and Resources to Projects.
• Support Marine Operations, Terminal Operations, and the Project Engineering teams with resource and capability management for personnel needs in partnership with corporate resources and functions.
• Oversee building and maintenance of operational intelligence tools including dashboards, reports, and Saas tools, including supervision and mentorship of junior Operations Analyst.
• Identify and lead productivity efforts for Operations team deliverables to drive better cost outcomes for business. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, maritime transportation, or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 10 years related experience, preferably including offshore construction, onshore wind or maritime practical experience and 3-5 years of commercial experience in procurement, sales, or operations of marine/offshore /wind businesses.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to request, compile and analyze information from diverse stakeholders to make business case studies and recommendations. Familiarity with vessel chartering and marine contracting. Self-starter, able to identify what work needs to be done, and develop a plan to complete the work. Ability to monitor market developments, identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to mentor, coach, train and supervise employees. Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, and negotiation. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of project management, risk management and costing/estimating. Familiarity with basics of offshore/marine operations. Able to identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats in own business, business partners, competitors and customers.
OTHER: Primarily office work, but will be required to visit vessels, ports, and other operational sites from time to time and travel for business meetings and conferences.
JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
