A Day in the Life

Team is working hybrid and position will be onsite 3 days in Fridley or Mounds View, MN.

This role is a member of the Global R&D Center of Expertise, which is responsible for driving efficiencies in the R&D Finance space. As a member of the COE, this role will help deliver on Finance objectives by collaborating with OU finance business partners and region/functional finance teams to standardize reporting, optimize resources and develop operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:


  • Serve as functional partner to the CAS Functional Leaders/Core Team Leaders and provide financial analysis and support/creation of financial plans/actions that drive business decisions and results.

  • Provide support in financial planning and administration, forecasting, and measurement/understanding of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), forecasts, and Strategic Plan.

  • Execute standard period and quarter end financial close activities and support business reviews through standard and ad-hoc reporting and analyses.

  • Provide financial expense reporting and analysis, ensuring spending is within budget and company policies.

  • Identify and develop month-end financial reporting efficiencies migrating to Power BI or AI tools.

  • Assist in the education and development of business partner financial acumen and reporting tools.

  • Drive efficiency/improvement of related finance processes in support of the organization.

  • Support and drive analysis of labor rates, supply vs. demand of project charging pool and processing of standard labor hours monthly.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance or Accounting (5+ years with an advanced degree)

  • Strong business acumen - Ability to identify business issues/opportunities and to frame business questions; Can operate with a degree of ambiguity and make informed assumptions to fill gaps in data

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with interests in building strong relationships

  • Executive presence - Capable of being both a process expert and interacting with senior leadership (e.g. Finance Executive Committee, Business Leadership)

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently, capable of handling multiple requests and deadlines simultaneously

  • Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including group facilitation experience

  • Green, Yellow, Black or Master Black Belt certification

  • Bachelor's or master's degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting

  • MBA or CPA

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$103,200.00 - $154,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
