We are seeking an enthusiastic graduate or veterinary student to gain experience and knowledge in various aspects of animal health research. A 2nd or 3rd year veterinary student interested in anatomic pathology will be highly preferred.
Internship Job Duties:
The successful candidate will work with Global Therapeutics team members and other researchers to:
Contribute to the development of Zoetis Animal Health products; responsibilities may include preparing study protocols, data capture forms, monitoring internal studies, reviewing data, and writing study reports.
Assist board-certified anatomic pathologists with necropsies and histopathologic evaluation of glass slides and digital scans of tissue preparations from ongoing studies and individual diagnostic cases.
Work with the anatomic pathologist and histology laboratory staff of the Molecular Pathology group to aid in tissue trimming, slide preparation, digital slide scanning, digitized slide image review and annotation, and IHC marker development and optimization.
Attend regular pathology rounds and topical presentations detailing the pathology of different organ systems and disease conditions.
Create a scientific poster to present information obtained from summer research projects.
Internship Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program with an interest in veterinary bioscience/ animal science/ pathology/ toxicology and pharmaceutical development or animal research.
Demonstrate organizational and interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
Strong knowledge of Word and Excel, detail oriented, and ability to communicate through remote meetings, e.g., Zoom and Teams.
Students enrolled in an animal science/ toxicology graduate degree program may be considered.
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $20.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois (Chicago area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington (Seattle area):
Student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $17.00 per hour
Student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour
