Zoetis is seeking a summer intern in the field of immunology with emphasis in innate immunology and immunomodulation/trained immunity in veterinary species, to join a multidisciplinary research group dedicated to discovery and development of novel therapeutics for Animal Health. The successful candidate will undertake a project expanding on in vitro immunological models to support substrate screening and characterization of mechanistic underpinnings of novel immunomodulators for veterinary species under the guidance of a lead scientist. This position will be based in the laboratory and involve working closely with the mentor and other Zoetis colleagues, eventually working independently.
Internship Job Duties:
Develop/optimize/execute immunological assays for veterinary species.
Screen immunomodulatory substrates using various immunological assays.
Characterize immunological mechanisms related to immunomodulation, infectious disease, and neonatal immunity.
Analyze & interpret data and present scientific findings.
Internship Qualifications:
Biological sciences doctoral graduate student, ideally in veterinary immunology/infectious disease.
Basic knowledge base in the areas of cellular and innate immunology.
Preferable candidate has experience/knowledge in neonatal immunobiology.
Technical experience developing/executing variety of in vitro immunological assays & methods to measure immune responses e.g. primary immune cell isolation & culture, flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD/Luminex, MACS, etc.
Highly motivated, independent, has good communication skills and innovative.
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $20.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois (Chicago area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington (Seattle area):
