University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit (1JPW) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.
1JPW is a 15-bed inpatient unit dedicated to psychiatric evaluation and care of child and adolescent patients (3-17 years old). Patients on the child and adolescent unit experience depression, anxiety, eating disorders, intellectual disabilities, substance use disorders, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Members of a full complement of professionals provide structured therapy, including dialectical behavior therapy. A unique unit design incorporates Circle School, gymnasium, and outdoor activities to improve patient experience and outcomes.

Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: 40 hours per week. 50% of hours are in patient care. Typically 0700-1530 Monday to Friday with occasional after hours and weekend work to support the needs of the unit.

Education Required
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required
Certifications:
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
Experience Required
1-3 years of current critical care experience with demonstrated skills in leadership/management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail, and thoroughness
Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of University of Iowa Health Care policies, procedures and regulations
Experience working in large academic medical center
Experience working in a union environment
