DESCRIPTION Under the general supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, the primary responsibility of the Sanitation Technician II is to clean and sanitize all processing equipment, floors, walls, pipes, trash receptacles, drains, grounds, etc. This position will lead the Sanitation Technicians crew.

Responsible to comply with all Quality and Foods Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management Systems with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
Disassemble, clean/sanitize, and reassemble equipment ensuring equipment care and integrity
Clean and sanitize equipment with the correct chemicals/cleaning agents and scrubbing materials
Properly and safely mix chemicals per label instructions
Frequently lift/move hoses, equipment, chemical containers throughout work shift
Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements at all times
Utilize company resources in a safe and effective manner
Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Work Rules, Safety Rules, and Attendance Rules
Lead Sanitation personnel under his/her responsibility
Assign work to employees
Identify any training needs for sanitation personnel. Document training
Ensures sanitation team adheres to all requirements to maintain a safe workplace including wearing the necessary protective equipment (PPE)
Ensure adherence to all safety and sanitation rules and regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), monitor inventory of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Maintain open communication and working relationships with all departments, including, QA/QC, Production and Maintenance
Make recommendations to Supervisor regarding improvements to Sanitation Department’s efficiency and/or effectiveness
Communicate issues and important information to appropriate person immediately
May be required to drive forklift
Immediately report any accidents
Immediately report any malfunctions of processing equipment
Immediately report any safety hazard
Work around moving equipment with cleaning chemicals with the plant
Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Follow verbal and written directions
Complete required paperwork accurately
Assist others in their areas as assigned
Perform other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions of the job, as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Previous sanitation experience
Previous experience in a leadership/supervisory role
Certified to operate forklift, or ability to become certified within 30 days of assuming position
Excellent Communication Skills, both oral and written
Detail orientated and safety conscious
Must be able to use ladders and other required tools needed to perform the job (i.e. brooms, water, etc.), work with chemicals per DOLE procedures.
Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
Ability to work any shift, any day of the week, as assigned and overtime as needed
Ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen and background check
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School or equivalent preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk, sit for 8+ hours/shift
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to bend/stoop/squat/twist/kneel and turn throughout workday, for varying lengths of time
Must be able to reach with hands and arms below shoulder level to above shoulder level
Must be able to work in a cold environment with an average temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Must be able to work on concrete work surfaces
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Must have dexterity to be able to hold a high-pressure hose (750-1000 psi) for long periods.
Must be able to work with chemicals
Must be able to wear a respirator (if needed). Required to pass Respirator Fitness Test
Must be able to work in wet environment
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
