Objectives of this Role:
A high level of understanding of how to read and interpret shop and ISO drawings and relative terms is required. Must be able to develop plans and implement strategies for proper sequencing of project work. Must be able to assign tasks to subordinate personnel to assure quality.
Must be able to understand complex instructions, communicate instructions to Jr. welders and ensure that tasks are completed properly.
Assist in planning work flow and communicate needs to supervisor. Meet with supervisor to communicate progress.
Lead small groups and adhere to institute safety requirements. Be available to train in proper safe work techniques and assist in keeping a safe work environment.
Apply experience to train and certify crane operators and riggers. Inspect tools and equipment.
Train in related skills as needs arise and assist in developing team members in machine operation.
Establish high level of safety and depth of trained personnel.
Knowledge of piping systems, vessel fabrication and tools needed is a must for this position.
Must be able to read specification codes and maintain adherence to criteria.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Review drawings and update redlines or changes.
Communicate status with engineering and supervisor and assist with inventory per project.
Inspection of safety equipment and tools. Lock/out or remove damaged equipment to prevent safety hazards.
Communicate repair needs and document status for equipment for project planning.
Certify to Weld Procedures and fill out log books.
Accurately document weld plans and processes through the project F.O.R. system.
Keep personal training current as assigned. Maintain up to date safety and applicable trainings on annual basis, and at other intervals.
Maintain welding equipment.
Understand the hardware and software of the welding equipment assist supervisor with digital upgrades and accessories to improve production.
Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or a Associates.
Must have a firm grasp on high school or Associates degree level geometry, mathematics and mechanical operations or fabrication classes would be preferred.
Shift work required.
10-20 years: Pipe fitting, Tank building, Steel Erection
10-20 years: Experience with mechanical, pipe, and vessel drawings
1-5 years: Overhead crane operation
1-5 years: Forklift operation
A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Special Requirements:
Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
