We are seeking a proficient and self-motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our successful environmental remediation team of professionals at AEC. Responsibilities will involve providing technical leadership across our environmental programs, staff mentorship, and project oversight. Responsibilities:


The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior- to mid-level project engineers.
  • Develop and implement procedures for planning, design, and application of different remediation technologies to meet project objectives.
  • Works collaboratively with environmental team project managers and professionals.
  • Function as a Senior Project Engineer handling projects of varying complexity, with responsibility for technical execution, design, client communications, reporting, and team coordination.
  • Directs professional and technical staff during project execution to complete complex environmental projects.
  • Interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Apply a working knowledge of data collection, management, and evaluations, and clearly articulate technical recommendations to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Apply a working knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA to all necessary projects.
  • Proactively identify efficiencies and technical methodology improvements to add value to our client service offerings.

Minimum Qualifications:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering
  • 20+ years of experience in environmental consulting
  • 10+ years of experience on federal projects
  • Ability to recommend approaches for new and improved processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper Training and current 8-hour refresher. Other OSHA training (30-hour construction) is valued.
  • Experience interacting with Federal agency programs and their technical staff.
  • Experience in PFAS investigation and remediation techniques.
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Professional licensure (PE)

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, crawling, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of 35 pounds or more. If required, individual must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to; hard hats, safety-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Job is performed in a combination of office work, work throughout occupied and unoccupied buildings, and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Building assessments will be conducted throughout buildings including crawl spaces, attic spaces, and confined spaces. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
