A Day in the Life
This role is an individual contributor within Medtronic's Peripheral Vascular Health operating unit, which employs the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe. We focus on transforming global vascular disease management.
The Design Technician II will provide technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development for treating the unmet needs of patients suffering from peripheral vascular and venous disease.
A Day in A Life
As a Design Technician II you will focus on technical tasks to support R&D initiatives to new therapies, from design to implementation and changes to the commercial product while adhering to policies using specialized knowledge and skills. The role requires effective collaboration and prioritization of multiple concurrent tasks in an ambiguous environment. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
• \tWork independently with moderate supervision;
• \tPerform day-to-day activities in the R&D laboratory, including following 5S lab norms and lab safety practice, supply ordering, instrument maintenance, and product/samples testing;
• \tUse of schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing using established procedures, and detailed mathematical calculations;
• \tOperate, troubleshoot, qualify, and/or validate fixtures, equipment, and test methods utilized to evaluate product and process design and performance;
• \tCoordinate design criteria with engineering and manufacturing, and perform studies on process characterization, optimization and validation;
• \tReport results and findings to the engineering team;
• \tAssist in writing protocols and reports;
• \tParticipate in test method development, verification and validation as required;
• \tWork effectively with internal cross-functional team members;
• \tPerform job functions in accordance with applicable GMP, GLP and ISO standards;
• \tComply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws and standards;
• \tMaintain required documentation per GDP procedures.
Nice to Have
• \t2+ years of experience in R&D or operations within medical device or pharmaceutical industries;
• \tExperience in medical device industry, preferably with vascular therapies, products and technologies;
• \tExperience in stents fabrication and testing;
• \tWorking knowledge of process development and validation;
• \tExperience of using vision and measurement equipment: Instron, MTS, Keyence (or equivalent)
• \tAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects;
• \tAbility to compile, organize, and communicate technical data using Excel or other applications;
• \tExperience with equipment qualification and troubleshooting;
• \tExperience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly or Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (or equivalent).
• \tExperience using common electronic documentation software (e.g. MAP, Agile or equivalent).

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Requires high school diploma or equivalent (United States), vocational or technical education or certification (all other countries).

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$53,200.00 - $79,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
