Job Summary



The Mulch Mill/Color Line Operator plays a key role in achieving company goals by monitoring inputs between the GEM system and colorant scale, following product specific recipes, changing color totes, adjusting feed belt speeds, grinder RPMS, and making needed adjustments to ensure product meets company standards while working safely. This individual needs to have a good eye for material quality, strong ability to adhere to specific hands-on cleaning of equipment and work area. This individual will be responsible for preparing and operating equipment as well as shutting down machinery for cleanup. Must have good forklift and skid-steer operating skills. Due to the nature of this position, uniforms are provided.



Job Responsibilities




  • Set up Mill and Color Line for startup and changeover, assemble and operate the machine for production, and shut down equipment for clean up
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Completion of production reports with good details: down times, paint usage, quality checks, etc.
  • Cleaning is a large part of this position: rinsing partial color totes, cleaning paint nozzles, color lines, maintain a clean working area, disposing of waste, cleaning floor and around equipment.
  • Ensure product quality meets company standards by weighing product, monitor machine settings, complete line check forms, and communicate with other departments
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving when necessary (i.e. making adjustments to the machines)
  • Maintain a clean working area, such as disposing of waste and cleaning floor
  • Adhere to the Company's safety policies and procedures
  • Work in other production areas as required
  • Complete minor maintenance such as changing grinder tips, paddles, belt adjustments
  • Assist with maintenance when needed
  • Other duties as assigned



Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a dedication to quality and safety
  • Working as part of a team, often with minimal supervision, while maintaining a positive and respectful workplace
  • Abiding by company policies and procedures
  • Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to use arithmetic to perform production related calculations
  • Previous experience operating a forklift.
  • Previous experience operating a Skid-steer
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear
  • The employee will be required to stand for extended periods of time
  • The employee may frequently stand on their feet
  • The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. from the ground level. The need to lift over 65 lbs. may arise from time to time - should this be the case; employees should engage in team lifting and/or use the provided equipment to safely lift
  • The employee must have the capability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and your whole body - bending, crouching, climbing - using steps and ladders, pushing pulling, stooping and reaching
