Position Overview
As a Paving Area Superintendent, you will oversee the setup, operation, scheduling, and production of daily asphalt paving projects within your area. You will communicate daily requirements to the paving foreperson(s) and crews on each project. You will work in tandem with Project Management personnel and will report directly to the Paving Manager.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Ensure project sites are operating in a safe and secure manner.
Review Performance Reports and keeping track of production targets.
Daily oversight of asphalt paving projects for safety, production, and yields.
Ensure quality of installation and compaction standards are met.
Scheduling and coordination of concurrent jobs with State, Municipal and private representatives.
Ability to read and interpret project plans and survey information.
Ensuring regulations and requirements are met for work zones and job sites.
Support on the job training for crews and employee growth.
Daily communications with the Paving Manager and Project Managers.
Participate in special projects or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Working knowledge and understanding of asphalt paving operations, specifications, and procedures.
Working knowledge and understanding of job estimates, specifications, and operating procedures.
Understand production needs and maintain communication with the asphalt plants and trucking/transportation.
Ensure the implementation safety rules and review safety meetings and completed work zone checklists.
Provide for traffic control needs, including proper signage, proper staffing.
Be aware of conditions that may affect maintaining daily operations (i.e., weather, safety, etc.).
Ensure proper trucking and equipment requirements are met.
Maintain proper job records such as schedules, personal diary, etc.
Ability to work independently and make decisions daily.
Ensure training of the assigned crews; plan, assign and direct work; conduct performance appraisals (when required); reward and discipline the crew members; address complaints and resolve problems.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the geographical territory.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to perform work in daytime and nighttime conditions.
Education/Experience
Minumum of 3 years of leadership in the Construction industry and/or asphalt pavement experience required.
Preffereed 6-10 years experience in the constructions industry.
OSHA 10
Competent Person Training
Traffic control supervisor certification preferred
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Pocess strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
Must be able to work variable hours including daytime, nighttime & some weekend hours and overtime.
Travel will be required inside the company's operational area.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
Possess a strong drive, fulfill commitments, and have enthusiasm for the job.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
