The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, managing accounting systems, and developing analytical insights to guide decision-making. This position involves working closely with senior leadership and contributing to strategic financial initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform accounting tasks, including AP, AR, cash flow, cost management, and financial analysis.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.
Review and manage daily cash balances, resolving any variances.
Execute month-end processes, including closing the books and preparing financial statements.
Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and scorecards aligned with organizational goals.
Support the preparation of budgets and participate in variance analysis.
Prepare and perform regulatory and tax reporting, such as quarterly and annual filings.
Provide backup support to senior finance leadership as needed.
Collaborate on department projects and implement new financial processes or systems.
Maintain accurate accounting processes for third-party relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 2 years of back-office experience; credit union or banking experience preferred.
Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant software.
Knowledge of rules, laws, and regulations within the accounting field.
