Control Systems Engineering Specialist
Mossville, IL
Role Summary:
The Large Power Systems Division has a current opening for a Controls Specialist - developing, debugging, and refining control software for fuel systems on new and existing diesel engines. In this role you will define requirements, innovate, solve complex problems, and optimize the performance and reliability of fuel system and engine products. A hands-on approach, including lab work on fuel system and HIL benches, is key to success in this rewarding role.
What you will do (includes but not limited to):
Provide technical leadership in designing advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing software and procedures to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices performance in collaboration with motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs.
Provide technical leadership in designing and prototyping mechatronic devices with motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs.
Provide technical direction in identifying and addressing areas of product weakness in finished products.
Education and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Uses subtle cues to determine the language and experience level of an individual or group.
Problem Solving: Extensive Experience
Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Conceptual Thinking: Extensive Experience
Knowledge of thinking and reasoning at a conceptual level; ability to identify the critical ideas and interdependencies among system elements that impact performance.
Embedded Systems: Extensive Experience
Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.
Requirements Analysis: Extensive Experience
Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
Top Candidates will also have:
Professional experience with bench testing and validation.
Professional fuel system controls experience for diesel engines.
Demonstrated capability with complex problem solving.
