Clemson University’s College of Education is actively seeking applications for an open-rank, nine-month tenure track/tenured faculty position in Human Capital Education and Development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in workplace learning, organization change and career development with demonstrated expertise in working with adult learners.
The undergraduate major in Human Capital Education and Development prepares students to improve any workplace through its people. Human capital is a process of improving employee learning, performance, health and well-being. Our graduates develop the knowledge and skills needed to lead strategic approaches to attract, develop, and lead talent. Graduates of this program hold positions in training and development, human resources, career and talent development, strategic organization development, and/or workforce and community development.
The program is designed for and offers a variety of pathways including a transfer pathway and an accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s degree in human resource development (HRD). Key factors to student success include:
Responsibilities:
Research: Conduct high-quality, impactful research in human capital education and development. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and disciplines in the College and University. Lead an externally funded program of research that contributes to knowledge, practice and outreach, including collaborations with industry and government related to human capital and/or workforce development.
Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in human capital and human resource development. Develop new courses related to issues in the field and strengthen students’ success and career development.
Service: Participate in departmental, college, university-level service and service to the profession. Serve on relevant committees and contribute to community engagement efforts, particularly in rural and economically disadvantaged areas.
Mentorship: Provide mentorship to students, including transfer students, first-generation college students, career changers, and those from underrepresented and rural backgrounds. Supervise and/or mentor undergraduate students, graduate students and graduate assistants. Participate in doctoral program advising in the department. Foster a supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
