We're looking for a motivated Manufacturing Engineering Manager to support our industry leading products here at Tosoh Quartz, Inc.

As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the manufacturing engineering team to achieve operational goals and improve process ownership within the manufacturing engineering team by focusing on safety, quality and delivery. You will champion and advocate for Lean production efforts across TQI. You will also work closely with Engineering groups (R&D and NPI) to ensure new products and equipment meet production requirements and can be successfully built and utilized on the production floor.

What you'll do at Tosoh Quartz.


  • Mentor manufacturing engineering team on key concepts of process development, lean production and scientific glassblowing.
  • Work closely with management, production and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Lead cross functional projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess project feasibility.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, of new and existing equipment.
  • Direct, review, and approve process design and changes.
  • Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Manage team projects and efforts to achieve goals set by management.
  • Occasional int'l travel required (1-2x per year)

Who you are.

Minimum requirements:


  • BS in Engineering or similar field.
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles that are involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Experience with Lean production concepts, including initial rollout and adoption of 6S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen activity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocations, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of project management, as it relates to equipment deployment and process improvement.

We'd love to see:

  • Familiarity with MRP fundamentals.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing environment.
