Rheinmetall's U.S. organizations include American Rheinmetall Systems, American Rheinmetall Vehicles, American Rheinmetall Munitions and American Rheinmetall Defense. The operating companies have established engineering and production capabilities that allow them to modify existing products and develop new solutions that meet the priority requirements of their US customers. These products consist of, but are not limited to, game-changing solutions for next-generation vehicles, innovations for increased soldier lethality, and advanced high-tech munitions.
At American Rheinmetall Vehicles, we believe in satisfied customers and healthy, engaged employees. We listen to our customers and develop transformational technology that delivers necessary military vehicle capabilities to our Warfighters while also providing challenging and fulfilling careers to our employees.
We are committed to supporting critical advancements in the United States defense industry, like the U.S. Army’s XM30 Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) program, which will replace the Army’s Bradley infantry fighting vehicle with a modernized ICV. Our team has recently won a contract award to advance to Phases 3 and 4 of the program where vehicle design will continue, followed by the prototype build of a small number of vehicles to be tested by the Army. Our solution for the XM30 program, along with our other next-generation tracked and wheeled vehicle systems, empowers and protects the members of our U.S. Armed Forces and ensure their safe return home.
In the past two years, we have secured an order intake of about $750 million. We have greatly increased our workforce and are continuing to do so at a rapid pace in order to staff our new facility and support our goals as we continue to grow our business. If you are interested in a meaningful career that directly supports our Warfighters, we encourage you to apply today!
Job Summary:
Rheinmetall Lethality Engineers are focused on developing and integrating lethal munitions and subsystems into military vehicles and equipment. The ability to detect and engage targets on a battlefield is paramount to combat vehicle development. Confidence in the safety, performance and functionality of their vehicle allows soldiers and Marines to complete their mission duties and make it home safely.
Lethality technologies include weapons, ammunition handling, electro-optical and infrared sight systems, and fire control. A lethality engineer must use elements of their multi-domain engineering coursework to understand these individual vehicle subsystems and their interactions. Vehicle turret packaging and relationships between subsystems must be understood to provide complementary design solutions.
As a student entering the field of lethality, a significant amount of your initial job (approximately 75%) will be using your mechanical, electrical and computing school experience to learn specific lethality technologies. Candidates are expected to use ARV resources, supplier/partner interactions, and academic materials (e.g. textbooks, specifications, internet) to become competent in their field and subsystems. An associate engineer will be developed over a period of 6-12 months to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to be the primary point of contact between ARV and the subsystem suppliers/partners.
As your engineering knowledge grows, you will be ARV’s ambassador to government counterparts and agencies. Subcontractor management will grow to include managing the cost and schedules of their engineering activities and hosting meetings. You will also support integration and test activities for these subsystems as vehicle development progresses.
