Summary
The Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Operations Director, is responsible for assisting in the development and administration of wellness programs of the YMCA of Central Kentucky. This position will require exceptional customer service skills, flexibility in scheduling and comprehensive knowledge of the YMCA's programs and services. This position requires flexible availability mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and weekends. This position will also be in direct service 30 hours a week working the wellness floor and may include personal training and/or leading group exercise classes.
Work days will be Tuesday through Saturday, typical work hours will be during the day with one evening per week. Facilities close by 9pm.
Anyone currently certified as a personal trainer will be paid at a higher rate during personal training sessions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides superior customer service to all members and program participants in wellness and other areas as assigned.
Focuses on member and participant engagement by providing a warm welcome, sincere interest in each individual and strong follow-through to ensure a quality experience for all.
Assists the Operations Director in the recruiting, training and supervision of staff and volunteers needed to run successful, quality YMCA programs
Assist in developing and maintaining safe and clean program facilities
Includes contacting/responding to volunteers/program participants via email, phone, or in person in a timely manner
Assist in the recruiting of program participants through communication and marketing efforts.
Assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness
Perform random quality checks of programs and events as needed
Assist in the supervision of volunteers and part-time staff.
Personal Training members and conducting wellness orientations, and egym appointments.
Qualifications
This position requires strong organizational, communication, interpersonal relation skills and an ability to work independently at times without direct supervision. Must understand how to build relationships and have strong interpersonal skills. Must have a proven track record and a passion for exercise, nutrition, healthy living and helping others live a healthier lifestyle. Strong social media acumen preferred. Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet/exceed goals. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives, and cultures. A basic knowledge in kinesiology, event planning and program development is vital.
Must be CPR certified within 60 days.
Must be actively working towards Personal Training Certification with completion within 60 days
Education/Experience
College Education preferred
Minimum of 2 years experience working in wellness programming
Personal training certification required
