Full-time with benefits, 72 hours/80 hour pay period, day shifts with hours between 7am-6:15pm.

JOB SUMMARY

The Rehab Services Technician is responsible for providing assistance with treatment set up and clean up as well as assisting patients as needed, general restocking, infection control, and cleaning/organizing throughout the department.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

  1. Assists with accurate maintenance and organization of Rehab Services paper records for compliant documentation and billing.
  2. Works with Department Managers and staff in the Rehab Services Department and with Materials Management Department to maintain adequate supplies for Rehab Services department, including processing of special orders.
  3. Assists Department Managers in the Rehab Services Department, the Rehab Services Equipment Committee, Environmental Services, Materials Management, and Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician with work orders and tracking of equipment that needs repair, maintenance, or calibration.
  4. Performs all other duties as assigned and has the ability to meet the needs and expectations of more than one staff member, as well as maintain the Rehab Services Department at a high standard.
  5. Contributes to the overall effectiveness, efficiency and professionalism of the department and hospital by providing outstanding customer service at all times, representing the hospital in a professional manner, regarding the customer with dignity and compassion, communicating with the Provider/Director regarding concerns or problems, utilizing good judgment, and maintaining one’s composure in any stressful situation.
  6. Maintains confidentiality of patient information, in accordance with Tomah Health’s policy and procedures.
  7. Demonstrates support for and the ability to work as part of a team on achieving departmental and organizational goals, developing positive working relationships with other team members/departments and supporting Quality Improvement/Risk Management/Compliance efforts.
  8. Utilizes effective and highly professional communication skills following principles of etiquette. Must be able to accurately take and relay information to and from all members of the healthcare team, patients and visitors using verbal and written means utilizing equipment such as the telephone, e-mail, etc.
  9. Restocks and organizes linen as well as restocks personal care items including but not limited to electrodes, syringes, and medications throughout the Rehab Services.
  10. Completes temperature checks of refrigerators, freezers, and hydrocollators and maintains appropriate records
  11. Completes expiration date checks throughout the department on a monthly basis and records the same.
  12. Maintains a high standard of infection control throughout the department and assists clinical staff members with adherence to the Infection Control Policy. This includes but is not limited to wiping down treatment tables and exercise equipment and any other surfaces with regular patient contact throughout the day, changing linens, and cleaning/disinfecting patient care equipment including monthly cleaning of the hydrocollator.
  13. Recalibrates and backs up data on the Cybex NORM on a routine basis.
  14. Fills ice containers and GAME READY device as needed and maintains cryotherapy/cold packs in an orderly fashion.
  15. Provides assistance as needed to clinicians with inpatient and outpatient care including but not limited to physical assist and support with transfers, vestibular patient transitions, gait training, and wheelchair transportation.
  16. Assists patients as needed with use of technology for departmental intake/survey purposes, including but not limited to iPads.
  17. Position requires the ability to respond to changing priorities of the workload in a flexible manner.
  18. Participates in staff meetings, appropriate in-services, and competency testing.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all employees.
  3. Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and deadlines, with minimal supervision, and to exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing, organizing, planning, prioritizing, scheduling and coordinating work with others.
  4. Personal computer and spreadsheet experience preferred. Microsoft Office experience helpful.
  5. Manual dexterity required for computer use.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. The Rehab Services Tech is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is also required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  2. The Rehab Services Tech must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  3. Position requires excellent auditory skills for patient communication and visual acuity to work with written materials and other clinical materials.
