Position & Client Overview:

Our client, one of the largest premier health systems west of Philadelphia, is looking for a Pathologists' Assistant to work at their 700-bed medical center. This is a 40-hour per week position with no weekends.


Spend your two days off meandering Amish country. Lancaster is only 40 minutes south. It's one of the oldest Amish communities in the country and offers wide open spaces and a peaceful change of pace.


Philadelphia is about a 90-minute car ride making it a wonderful weekend destination for fascinating museums, vibrant parks, national historic sites and delicious food.


The acute care hospital is located in Reading, a small city founded in the late 18th century with much of its historical and industrial heritage preserved.

Salary: $90,000-130,000


Job Summary:

Under general supervision of a pathologist, independently perform or assist in accessioning, dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens.


Skill Requirements:

  • Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and maintain the equipment
  • Dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required to collect and prepare specimens
  • Lab safety and infection prevention is of paramount importance


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
  • Knowledge of gross room pathology procedures, protocols, and techniques
  • Knowledge of quality standards and requirements for pathology specimen photographs
  • Perform and/or assist pathologists in the accessioning, dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of anatomic specimens
  • Perform frozen sections and other intraoperative consultations, within established protocol and procedural parameters
  • Participate in accessioning and labeling specimens, storing and disposing specimens, and maintaining reagents and equipment


Education, Certification, & Experience:
  • Masters degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program preferred, and/or
  • PA(ASCP) certification
  • Two (2) years of experience
