Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY


Perform inspections and tests on electrical equipment to determine compliance with applicable codes and standards. Manager large projects including the supervising and coordination of the Company compliance personnel, sub-contractors and clients' activities. Prepare job estimates, develop proposals and manage project costs. Position may be mentally demanding, requiring concentration in multiple projects and activities simultaneously while routinely coordinating the activities of sub-contractors. The Senior Compliance Engineer position requires little or no direct supervision.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform very complex analysis and evaluative tasks necessary to complete equipment-labeling projects consistent with recognized industry and international standards, local jurisdiction requirements and Company procedures. Routinely perform medium and high voltage equipment evaluations.
  • Perform testing required for conformity assessment projects and medium and high voltage evaluation projects.
  • Perform power system measurements and analysis utilizing various types of recording instruments.
  • Perform complex field tests of electrical equipment and components.
  • Perform job walks, develop man-hour estimates and pricing and promote sales of large labeling and equipment evaluation projects.
  • Perform a wide range of conformity assessment work.
  • Perform CE Marking, SEMI-S2 and NRTL projects and to develop on-going customer relationships.
  • Review test plans for NRTL projects and other work relating to compliance projects performed by others.
  • Participate in standards development including NFPA, SEMI and international standards as appropriate.
  • May perform all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Negotiate major contracts and promote sales of other Company services as appropriate.
  • Mentor other Compliance Engineer positions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of Electrical Technical School or Military Equivalent and ten years minimum, same or similar work experience; OR
  • Graduate Engineer BSEE, BSME or other four-year Technical Degree and seven years minimum, same or similar work experience.
  • High degree of technical knowledge, supervisory, organizational and project management and sales skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus, applicable U.S. industry and international standards and a strong theoretical background are required. Knowledge shall include the non-electrical areas necessary to properly evaluate equipment such as mechanical, ergonomic, chemical and EMC requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication (including report writing) skills are essential.
  • Special skills to perform testing required for equipment labeling projects, medium and high voltage evaluation projects and a good aptitude for problem evaluation.
  • Extensive knowledge in a majority of the following: NEC, NEMA, IEC, ANSI, CSA, VDE, and UL standards; power systems analysis, complex control systems, medium and high voltage equipment and systems.
  • Advanced computer skills. Able to develop Microsoft Word templates and to use the features of Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to provide assistance and instruction to entry-level compliance engineer positions.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out-of-town and international travel of up to several weeks.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, and work at computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift and/or move test equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid Driver's License.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the California locality is between $88,550 to $110,751 per year (based on a 40-hour work week)]-salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
