Description

The Emergency Management specialist will support the NNSA office of Nuclear Incident Response.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and revise technical documents and other deliverables, as necessary, to support the Office of Nuclear Incident Response.
  • Work alongside technical experts within the National Labs, Interagency and commercial organizations supporting departmental operations and exercises.
  • Assist with coordinating all facets of consequence management in support of actual and anticipated requirements.
  • Assist with implementing operational plans, executing logistics concepts of support and enabling emergency communications.
  • Assist with the development of after-action reports and integration of recommendations into programmatic plans following drills, exercises, and real-world threats, incidents or accidents.
  • Assist with interagency collaborative efforts to develop policy associated with the application of space nuclear systems in the commercial environment.
  • Assist with the development plans, policies, and procedures, in collaboration with internal and external partners, for emergency response associated with commercial space nuclear systems.
  • Assist with the integration of plans and policies into specialized senior leader seminars, discussions and other exercises as it relates to consequence management and especially commercial space nuclear systems.
  • Assist with Interagency emergency response planning efforts regarding the of launches of government nuclear systems with NASA, other government agencies, and commercial entities.
  • Serve "on-call" as a member of the NEST response team, which may include after-hours, extended shifts, and weekends.
  • Maintain training and appropriate qualification standards associated with the response team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A U.S. citizen with a current Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance and ability to obtain SCI access.
  • BS degree from an accredited university with 7+ years’ proven experience in emergency management.
  • Experience in the national defense nuclear/space and the civil space sector.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and solution oriented.
  • Able to manage the workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment; meeting or exceeding short turnaround deadlines.
  • Strong time management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

LOCATION: This is a full-time onsite position in Washington, DC.

SALARY: Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
