What You Will Contribute:

Badger Meter is hiring a first shift (6:30am-3:00pm M-F) Maintenance I in our Milwaukee facility starting at $21.70.
The Maintenance Utility Worker is responsible for overseeing material process operations and coordinating maintenance tasks to ensure completion. Duties of this position include, care and cleaning of floors, restocking supplies around the facility, removal and proper disposal of waste, receiving and stocking inventory.
Responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area. Communicates with supervisor his/her daily activities, anomalies in work areas, and unsafe conditions
Major Job Duties/Accountability:
Operates hand and powered forklift trucks to transport materials, machine parts, scrap, etc. on company premises
Includes both inside and outside work involving lubrication, plumbing, painting, some carpentry, and limited sheet metal fabrication
Responsible for proper documentation of stock location and transportation of material
Performs sweeping, cleaning and chip hauling duties in assigned plant areas
Truck refuse and recyclables to disposal areas
Works with the Environmental & Safety manager to support and maintain the hazardous waste storage area and transports hazardous waste to and from the waste storage area and dock area
Empty recyclable (plastic and cardboard) and refuse containers throughout the manufacturing facility
Weigh and record weights of recyclables in computer system and load recyclable truck as needed
Break down cardboard and operate cardboard bailing equipment
Responsible for miscellaneous other assignments such as washing windows, walls, machines, maintain requisition supplies, change light bulbs and shovel snow, and grounds keeping when required.
Utilize maintenance management software to get work assignments and record labor
Qualifications:
No previous experience required
High School degree required
Basic computer skills
Ability to pass internal forklift and hazmat training if applicable
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Maintains open communication and positive working relationships with staff
Basic math skills
Ability to read, write and speak English
Working Conditions:
Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and complete an audiogram test
Able to work outside occasionally in all conditions
Comfortable with ladders and heights
