The Asphalt Plant Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for area asphalt plants to manufacture hot mix asphalt and aggregate products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
Essential Functions
Manage Asphalt Plant Production
Ensures plants run according to design, budget, and schedule
Approves and authorizes plant related transactions including personnel changes, PO's and change requests
Develops and monitors plant metrics and KPI's
Assists in developing plant budgets
Develops employees
Coaches and mentors asphalt plant employees
Supports direct reports' developmental activities
Ensures direct reports meet personal and professional developmental goals
Motivates employees and work groups to achieve productivity, performance, safety and quality goals
Communicates effectively
Advises Project Manager or Senior Managers of problems, potential problems, or schedule difficulties
Collaborates with Project Accounting, Estimating, Scheduling, Operations, and Equipment departments
Facilitates collaboration among plant personnel
Effectively communicates and coordinates with FOB customers to help maintain strong customer relationships
Promotes and maintains safe work environment
Exhibits safe work behaviors; evaluates work area for hazards; eliminates or controls hazards
Wears all prescribed PPE
Participates in daily safety huddles and safety training; follows safe work plans
Reads and understands hazard signs, training materials, work plans, instruction manuals
Education Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/related field or equivalent experience
Experience Qualifications
5+ years working in asphalt production
Prior experience in heavy/highway construction preferred

Some exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at asphalt plants, including heights, moving vehicles, moving equipment, live wires, exposed wires
Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, concrete, asphalt, dirt
Indoor office conditions that include regular exposure to office equipment, such as computers, copiers, mail machines, telephones
Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects
Walks and stands for long periods of time
Climbs in, out and under equipment; lays or stands under equipment
Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
