We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Machine Sales/ Work Tool Specialist position!
Here is some of what you’ll do…
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for selling new and used Caterpillar machines, and work tools (attachments). Responsible for building strong customer relationships, delivering excellent customer experiences, and achieving sales growth goals. Responsible for educating the sales and rental teams on work tools including application and latest technologies. Responsible for growing work tool sales corporately.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Promote, sell, and secure new business in the territory. Sell new, used, and rollout machinery.
Understand customer applications and provide the best possible solution for the customer.
Direct the demonstration of products or services and assist prospects in the selection of those best suited to their needs.
Achieve revenue, gross profit (GP), and related growth targets as assigned.
Utilize and maintain Hawthorne’s customer relationship management system (CRM) with relevant customer and territory information.
Initiate, amend, complete, and submit all sales quotes.
Provide financial consultation to the customer base explaining the best use of funds relative to machine need and application.
Control expenses while transacting sales and adhere to Hawthorne company guidelines.
Grow in the knowledge of Caterpillar machine uses and applications.
Partner with the Marketing and Sales Operations teams regarding assigned territory programs and strategy.
Develop a work tools “go to market” plan with the retail sales and rental sales teams.
Keep sales teams updated on all new technology and work tool advancements.
Work with Caterpillar team to maximize work tool support and funding for sales and rental.
Participate in Caterpillar machine training as assigned by management.
Conduct any other duty deemed necessary by the General Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
A minimum of 4 years of sales industry experience.
Caterpillar product knowledge and sales experience preferred.
Strong PC skills required.
Must have a valid California Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.
Handling: Works with hands.
Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts, small tools, batteries, and tampers. May lift up to 60 lbs. with frequent exertion.
Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
Climbing: In and out of equipment.
Vision: Reads documents, invoices, bills and user manuals.
Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.
Travel required for training, customer events, and conferences.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
Temp/Weather: Works in an office and outdoor environments with variations of temperature and weather.
Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.

Estimated Compensation $24,000 - $48,000 annually, plus commissions
