The Principal Mechanical Engineer / Pump SME will be a technical leader of new product development, new product introduction and R&D experience. This position will design custom motors and variable frequency drives for commercial pumps.
This position will be located onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH location.
Responsibilities:
Serve as technical R&D consultant to all global LC teams selecting pumps for Single phase LC systems.
Grow into additionally supporting pump recommendations for 2 phase LC systems.
Guide and Mentor product development leads to gaining more pump experience.
Work with Advanced R&D on enhanced performance designs.
Be strong Liaison between Vertiv and suppliers of pumps to Vertiv.
Understand and participate in Regulatory committee's that may affect LC and pump design.
Requirements:
15 Years experience in Pump design with VFD drive experience.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Master of Science in related topic.
CAD experience is a plus. Creo or Solidworks preferred.
GD&T and statistical process knowledge preferred.
Ability to use excel based and computational solving software for fluid dynamics calculations
Understanding of pump curves, wet end power, motor power, NPSH in depth knowledge required
Can design hydraulic water-based systems. Dynamic Fluid system simulation analysis.
Pump reliability and design verification and test knowledge. Able to write DVT test plans.
Understanding of how pumps are tested. Dynamometers and power measurements.
Good communication skills. English Fluency. Able to work with Cross functional teams.
Experience with IP and patent submissions is a plus
Travel: Up to 10% - domestic and/or international
