Stanford University seeks candidates for a faculty position in Korean Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to advance research and education on Korea, in the Korea Program of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC).



The new faculty member will be appointed as Center Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), affiliated with APARC. Center Fellows at Stanford University are the equivalent rank of tenure-track assistant professor. They are members of the Professoriate and the Academic Council, eligible to serve as principal investigators, and accrue sabbatical. Center Fellows are appointed for a fixed term of years with the possibility of promotion to Senior Fellow.



Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) at the time of the appointment and will be expected to teach and advise students at the graduate level.



Application packages should be submitted online and include the following documents: 1) a curriculum vitae with complete bibliography; 2) a research statement (up to 2 pages); 3) a statement of teaching interests (1 page); 4) up to three examples of scholarly publications; and 5) a cover letter. Candidates should also provide the names of three references, who may be contacted for this review.

The expected base pay range for this position is:



Center Fellow: $150,000 - $190,000



Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
