I'm working with a Construction Management and General Contracting firm based out of White Plains, NY that has been in business for more than 15 years and has a stellar reputation in the market known for their hands-on approach to a magnitude of construction projects across the tri-state area. They started the business focusing on interior projects (fit-out and renovation works) primarily within the finance market and have expanded from there, now servicing the majority of industry sectors. Their success is measured by the work they do and the amount of repeat business they get from a growing client base.
Your new role
Due to this continuing growth, they are looking for a Junior Estimator to support their current estimating team as they continue to build on their impressive portfolio and client base. In this job you can expect to carry out the following:
Capable of performing detailed quantity take-offs and organizing the quantities with unit pricing in production of an estimate.
Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality.
The ability to negotiate throughout the bidding process.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and aggressive deadlines.
Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
A team player with a positive attitude who can also work independently, is self-motivated and success-driven, yet able and willing to take direction.
Ability to mentor Junior Estimators
Proven relationships with subcontractors in the New York area
Experience of lump sum bidding
Knowledge of MEP systems.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this job you will have between 2+ years' experience with either a general contractor or developer and have an understanding of all trades. You will demonstrate an solid understanding and knowledge of estimating processes and delivery methods, with prior experience of conducting solid conceptual estimates utilizing schematics whilst having experience in contract types and deal structures.
