What you will do:
Manage budget for 100+ engineering R&D and maintenance programs within the Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) supporting the 3500, C175, 3600/C280 and Small Gas product groups.
Budget target oversight and alignment.
Ensure program level budget target alignment is maintained across Engineering, Business Resources and Industry segment groups at all times.
Ensure budget target changes have appropriate approval(s) and are within overall affordability.
Communicate budget target changes to appropriate groups.
Monthly budget analysis and reporting.
Generate and communicate reports to engineering leadership and budget owners.
Analyze actual vs. forecasted spend and identify significant gaps that need addressed.
Work across engineering organizations to communicate identified gaps and drive them to closure.
Engage engineering managers and Accounting to resolve mischarges or discrepancies as needed.
Facilitate meetings with leadership to provide results and recommendations on actions that need taken to stay on budget.
Point of contact for engineering job number creation and obsoletion requests.
Maintain engineering headcount roster accuracy and ensure teams are properly recording their time each month.
Following year budget development and alignment.
Drive alignment across the various engineering teams such that everyone rolls up to the correct affordability targets at the LPSD level.
Set-up and facilitate meetings to communicate program level targets and/or highlight gaps that need to be addressed.
Organize and facilitate the engineering budget workshop event in October every year where the following year budget is communicated to the various supporting engineering teams.
Create and maintain training and relative documentation for the engineering team:
Be an expert with the Axiom budget tool.
Train and assist engineering in working in the Axiom Forecast and Reporting functions.
Hold training sessions as needed with engineering managers on proper accounting, budgeting, and forecasting principles
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school
Skill Descriptors Business Statistics: Working Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Working Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Analytical Thinking: Working Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Machine Learning: Basic Knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.
Programming Languages: Basic Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.
Query and Database Access Tools: Working Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.
Requirements Analysis: Working Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
