The University of South Alabama’s Grounds department is seeking to hire a Groundskeeper I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Performs routine maintenance of grounds to include:
Trimming and fertilizing trees and shrubbery.
Mowing and edging lawns.
Picking up trash and debris.
Watering plants.
Hoeing, weeding and tending flower beds, gardens, and lawns.
Collecting, loading and hauling trash.
Operating a tractor, and other various groundskeeping equipment and vehicles which may be equipped with manual transmissions.
Digging and planting flowers, shrubs and trees; performing groundskeeping and custodial duties in maintaining a small group of buildings and grounds.
Installing weed fabrics and mulches.
Staking and guying trees.
Removing debris and trimming along edges of bodies of water.
Cleaning trash and debris from storm inlets.
May apply chemicals to lawn, trees, shrubs, flowers, and paved surfaces.
Collecting campus-wide solid waste to include pick-up of bagged, boxed and loose materials and transporting by truck to dumpsters located throughout campus for unloading.
Moving materials and equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
Assisting in preparing grounds for installation and repair of irrigation systems.
Operating a power washer to clean sidewalks and other paved surfaces.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Related duties as required.
