A Day in the Life
The person in this role may work remotely within the US or onsite at a US-based Medtronic facility.

As Principal IT Project Lead supporting Global IT, you will be responsible for leading and managing one or more project teams engaged in global initiatives across the Neuroscience portfolio. You will have an opportunity to develop and manage all facets of the project(s) from intake through implementation and closure. In partnership with Neuroscience IT leaders, Cranial and Spinal Technologies stakeholders, and technical team members across the organization, you will be accountable for the successful implementation of the outcomes derived through effective organization and leadership, business case and benefits management, stakeholder management, risk management and issue resolution, planning and control, change management and quality management.

  • Develop and manage project plans including scope, schedule, resources, budget and governance

  • Obtain required approvals at each stage in the project

  • Prepare impact analysis against scope, schedules, and budget

  • Identify, review and present all change requests to governance groups

  • Ensure quality of project outcomes, deliverables, and products

  • Comply with all Corporate and Global IT Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Processes

  • Create, maintain, and report Business Case and Benefits Realization Plan

  • Define and manage the planned costs for the project

  • Collaborate with Finance on actuals and forecasts compared to the plan

  • Create, maintain and report across project schedule and resource management plan

  • Liaise with key stakeholders and implementation resource groups to ensure alignment of project priorities

  • Provide critical leadership to ensure overall quality of project planning and execution, while minimizing and mitigating project risks

  • Identify, mitigate, and review Risk and Issue Logs

  • Assume ownership for all critical project level risks and issues

  • Provide coaching and leadership to other Project Leaders as needed

  • Coach team members to ensure process adherence and effective project management, utilizing best practice project management skills, as well as framing and resolving issues through best practices

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)


  • Strongly Preferred:
    • Previous Medtronic experience


  • Experience in medical device industry, pharmaceutical industry is a strong plus

  • Experience with Medtronic's System Compliance Methodology

  • PMP Certification

  • Knowledge of information security best practice

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance Rules

  • Knowledge of application development and support principles

  • General Knowledge of cloud, database technologies

  • Experience with Veeva, Medidata, Oracle Clinical, CTMS

  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to changes in a quick, professional manner

  • Ability to use discretion when handling confidential information

  • Proven technical project management experience

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Project

  • Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications and interpersonal skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$119,200.00 - $178,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
