A Day in the Life The Sr Sales Director, Plains Region, is primarily responsibility for the overall leadership and execution of the region. In this capacity, the Sr Sales Director is accountable for meeting/exceeding revenue, market share objectives and fostering a high-performance culture among the team. This individual will drive sales and educational activities throughout the U.S. in partnership with strategic accounts and key customers. The successful candidate must exhibit and demonstrate proficiency in many aspects of the Director-level leadership expectations including thinking critically and making sound decisions with Speed and Decisiveness, setting strategic direction (Delivering Results the Right Way), collaborating to create alignment (Foster Belonging), advancing impact on customers (Competing to Win), setting high standards and driving accountability (Acting Boldly). Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Create and implement strategic plans and sales programs that are aligned to the overall US Surgical business strategy and are designed to achieve annual operating plans, key financial performance metrics and strategic objectives.
Actively participate in strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning and budgeting.
Lead through District Sales Managers with oversight for the region's sales plans, strategies, objectives, policies, and procedures that conform to broad corporate objectives.
Ensure sales targets are met and overall strategies are implemented.
Ownership of targeted, influential and executive-level customer call points that drive committed revenue for the region.
Ensure sales strategy execution through new product/market introductions, sales training programs, key surgeon/key account planning, and attendance at key industry congresses and events.
Drive commercial execution, continuous improvement, and confront challenges across the region aligned through a keen understanding of market dynamics and competitive behavior.
Create close working relationships with functions across the Surgical OU, including Marketing, Finance, Medical Education, Training and other functional partners to ensure the highest impact.
Develop and reinforce compliance with all Medtronic policies, business conduct standards, and pricing strategies.

Lead the strategy, structure, and effectiveness of the U.S. Surgical Region sales organization and ensure alignment with required capabilities to win in the market.

Autonomy:
Manage the sales function for the U.S. Surgical Region.
Provide direction for the sales function to ensure the achievement of revenue objectives.
Organizational Impact:
Lead the development of the mid to long-term sales strategies for the U.S. Surgical Plains Region.
Accountable for developing and implementing sales programs and directing the sales force to achieve revenue objectives for the organization's products within the geographic marketplace.
Track sales performance against objectives and inform organization leadership.
Managerial authority to make significant business and strategic decisions including control of product pricing, planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices.
Maintain P&L accountability for the business unit across geographies, divisions, product groups or service groups.
Innovation and Complexity:
Problems and issues faced are frequently complex and multi-dimensional, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact areas outside of immediate responsibility.
Problems require extensive analysis to seek an understanding of the underlying issue and root cause of the problem.
Responsible for improving upon entire processes or systems, leveraging on personal past experiences and in-depth understanding of best practices in the marketplace that may improve the competitive position of the organization.
Communication and Influence:
Communicates with internal and external parties across multiple job functions, and typically has responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, which may include customers or vendors.
Manages executive-level relationships with major clients in the geographic marketplace.
Requires ability to communicate with senior leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization as well as deliver traditional business reporting forums.
Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation and collaboration on divergent objectives.
Provides input on organizational structure and develops talent strategies.
Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
At least 12 years' prior relevant experience with at least 5 years' managerial experience.
Must reside within geographic region or be willing to relocate.
Must be willing and able to travel regionally up to 50% of the time.
Proven track record of success in leading sales teams and driving revenue growth in a competitive market.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and motivate a team towards achieving goals.
Excellent presentation skills with strong ability to present both qualitative and quantitative information in a clear, concise and persuasive manner to all levels of the organization.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Specialized sales, business development, and leadership capability to lead a sales team across a sub-region.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or other advanced degree.
Successful medical sales record, preferably with Surgical products.
Deep, demonstrated knowledge or experience within Medical Devices.
Knowledgeable in Surgical products and/or therapy.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$270,000 - $270,000
This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
