Head/Tail Stretcher is responsible to inspect the equipment at the beginning of each shift, along with an audit that all safety devices and emergency switches are operational.
Operate a stretcher mechanism to stretch aluminum parts after cooling.
Responsible to make dimensional checks during the setup and periodically during the production run to ensure parts are within tolerance.
The operator is responsible for making sure that the extrusion is not over or under-stretched making the parts out of tolerance.
Ensure parts, are in compliance, with customer orders and specifications.
Communicate to the Team Lead/Press Operator when surface defects are seen or at the time a part cannot be properly stretched.
Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation.
Reports any unsafe conditions to Lead/Supervisor/Management.
Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
Actively participate, in all established company health and safety training programs, and comply with all policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent mental and visual attention where the flow is intermittent with intermittent checking. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a hot environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection and safety shoes. Gloves are job specific.
