Overview

Purpose
To support PITT OHIO's strategic Process Engineering and Continuous Improvement team and help manage complex engineering projects from inception to completion. The candidate will ensure that all project goals, scope, and schedules are met and aligned with PITT OHIO’s overall vision and strategy. This role involves working with Engineering, IT, Operations, and other departments to implement new technologies, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
• Plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects using appropriate tools and methodologies
• Define and communicate the project objectives, scope, requirements, deliverables, success criteria to the project team and the stakeholders
• Coordinate and facilitate the project activities, such as testing, quality assurance, documentation, and deployment
• Identify and resolve any issues, problems, or conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle, and escalate them as needed
• Track and report the project progress, performance, and status to the project team, management, and all stakeholders
• Manage the project changes, scope creep, and expectations using appropriate change control processes
• Conduct post-project evaluation and lessons learned to capture the best practices and any improvement opportunities
Other Duties
• Lead project meetings and document meeting minutes
• Train and mentor staff on new process changes and initiatives
• Develop and maintain process documentation
• Travel to terminals in the network to observe operations and recommend improvements
• Support the other Engineers in the department
• Remain flexible to additional responsibilities as required; react to change effectively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• At least 5 years of proven experience in project management experience in the Transportation LTL industry or similar field
• Proven track record of delivering successful engineering projects on time and within scope
• Proficient in project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Asana, or Jira
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy are required
• Certification in project management, such as PMP, PRINCE2, or CAPM is a plus
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Software products
• Experience with PowerBI, SQL, and Snowflake are a plus
• Fluent command in the English language is required to efficiently communicate with internal and external customers
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
• Candidates must be able to efficiently communicate, observe operations facilities and activities, and learn our business from the "trenches".
• Sedentary work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of forces frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are only required occasionally.
• Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading.
• Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Talking and hearing required to communication with and listen to others to share or receive information. Occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
