The Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) is a nationally accredited healthcare facility that offers medical, counseling, dental, and health promotion and education services to eligible students of Portland State University. The center consists of over 100 clinical and administrative staff, and there are currently 20,000 students eligible to use SHAC services. Position Summary
SHAC is seeking one full time provider position to be filled by either an NP/PA (see posting D93831), or a MD/DO (see posting D96100), OR a part time provider (this position).
Eligible candidates include:
Current board certified MD/DO in Family or Internal Medicine
Current board certified NP’s in Family or Adult medicine
Current board certified PA’s
All candidates must possess an unencumbered Oregon license
Primary responsibilities include providing direct medical care to patients. We are seeking bilingual/multilingual providers who are experienced with trauma-informed care and working with patients of diverse cultural backgrounds. Preferred skills include:
IUD & Nexplanon insertion and removal
Wound repair
Skin biopsies
Draining I & D abscesses
Experience with Colposcopies
Experience with eating disorders
Gender affirming care & treatment
Treatment/Counseling for STI’s
Sexual assault examinations
Abortion care experience
Collaborating and consulting with RN’s following nursing standing orders
Experience with reading X-rays
Travel health
Infectious diseases
Sports related injuries
Electronic medical record experience
Quality assurance skills
Minimum Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. from an approved accredited school of medicine with an active Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Board Certification.
NP’s with Family or Adult board certification
Active, unencumbered Oregon License to practice medicine in the State of Oregon.
Current board certified PA.
Current DEA license.
Three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
Multilingual or Bilingual.
Experience with trauma-informed care.
Experience working with patients of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Experience in college healthcare.
Medical knowledge base that is current and continually updated.
College Health Experience.
Gender Affirming Care Experience
Procedure experience such as IUD/Nexplanon insertions, laceration repairs, abscess drainage, wound repair, medication abortions, etc.

Work Days/Hours
16-20 hours/week to be scheduled between Monday and Friday, 9-5:30
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The hourly rate for this position is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Approximate range $80-$105 per hour.
