Job Description:
PRODUCTION MANAGERDirects and oversees the Manufacturing functions of the company. This position is responsible for production planning, organizing and scheduling of production for producing product to meet customer delivery requirements by planning and directing the production workflow, methods, and inventory utilization. Responsible for the direct supervision of the Hydraulic, Electrical, Package, Hose and Modular Fabrication Departments mainly involved with the fabrication, assembly and testing of fluid power motion and control systems. Leads and directs the work of the Material / Production Coordinator in the creation of orders and release of materials. Directly responsible for the purchasing of raw materials, purchased and manufactured parts and components, sourcing of sub-assemblies and complete units to meet specified shipping dates. Accountable for results in terms of hourly performance, methods, quality, scheduling and on time delivery
Essential Functions
Work closely with the fabrication personnel, Material / Production Coordinator, Engineering Manager, Purchasing, Accounting, and Warehouse departments.
Responsible for prioritizing of production releases and long lead time component orders to meet the requirement dates of the customer. Responsible for the prefabrication review of all projects / job files with the project engineers prior to the release to manufacturing - to involve the manufacturability, outsourcing identification and test requirements associated with the completed assemblies. Responsible for scheduling and assigning work to employees directly. Plan, assist, direct and inspect work of the employees in proper methods, procedures, operations and duties. Responsible for inventory reduction and management related to all Hope Group assemblies, components and miscellaneous materials associated with fabrication assemblies. Directly responsible for the following activities:
Develops plans for control of production output, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, and production effectiveness.
Develops and implements all plans in Manufacturing
Establishes objectives and quality procedures governing the performance of assigned activities in manufacturing, repairs and service.
Reviews performance against operating plans and standards: communicates with and reports to subordinates on analysis and interpretation of results (productivity, quality, safety, on-time delivery), and approves change to direction of plans.
Identifies production training needs and ensures they are met.
Keeps employees informed as to departmental plans and progress
Responsible for conducting the weekly production meeting in addition to oversees the updating and distribution of the production schedule.
Participates in the weekly Senior Leadership Team meeting.
Develops, approves, and recommends corporate manufacturing policy.
Reviews and approves cost control reports, manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.
Reviews and approves major projects involving major functional changes within the areas of Manufacturing, Repairs and Service.
Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the Company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
Establishes and maintains files on production related issues as they pertain to the specific job.
Initiates documentation review with engineering in all projects prior to release to manufacturing.
Coordinates and implements change orders between fabrication and engineering throughout the fabrication process.
Monitors the layout and assembly of units to assure compliance to required due dates, engineering documentation, customer requirements, established fabrication processes and quality standards.
Oversees the testing of completed units, approve / reject test results and coordinate corrective action.
Provides final approval of all units prior to shipping.
Communicates abnormalities on job variances to engineering during manufacturing.
Monitors labor hours in comparison with project quotes.
