We have an exciting opening for an Instructional Designer with the opportunity to work remote from Arkansas.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructional Designer reports to Manager of Learning and Development and is responsible for maintaining and supporting SUI’s (Summit Utilities Inc.) Learning Management System, developing custom course content based on need of learners, providing training program support, and support to end-users.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with subject matter experts and other professionals across the company to develop quality custom online courses and learning paths.

• Support subject matter experts in defining instructional, learning, or performance objectives for learners.

• Use professional knowledge of principles, techniques and practices of instructional system development, adult learning theory, training research methodology, and technology to develop, review, and revise instructional material.

• Manage LMS activity to ensure course and curricula development, assignment, implementation, and evaluation processes within given timeframes.

• Review, update, develop, assign, and track completion of training courses in LMLS.

• Support, troubleshoot, solve, and track escalated user problems and inform the user of the status.

• Act as an internal consultant by analyzing data and recommending solutions to utilize the LMS to deliver and track training and measure performance to meet organizational objectives.

• Maintain the Learning Management System (LMS).

• Provide system maintenance which includes upgrades and updates, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Provide ongoing technical support to the LMS; research and resolve LMS functionality issues.

• Support learning and development training initiatives/programs by developing and delivering training.

• Research and advocate for new innovations in learning design and education, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Solutions focused and comfortable working in an environment requiring strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable fields is required.

• 5 or more years instructional design experience.

• 4 or more years learning management systems.

• In-depth knowledge of industry-standard publishing formats such as SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can API), cmi5, and AICC

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Proficient with instructional design software, such as Captivate and/or Articulate.

• Eye for design, well-written content, and high-value production.

• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

• Penchant for anticipating outcomes in a variety of situations.

• Ability to self-direct while effectively managing competing priorities.

• Must be able to build strong relationships and establish credibility as a trustworthy Content Development Administrator.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy while moving quickly.

• Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening and ability to make effective presentations.
