Overview

Intelligent Waves has grown by more than 30% in the past two years and has an outstanding new opportunity for a Site Reliability Administrator on our team in Reston, VA. This contract was awarded in 2022 with three more option years ahead. Work with us as we help our client automate tasks so we can provide innovative solutions toward cloud migration. We're particulary interested in those with solid Linux and/or Kubernetes experience.

Location: This position is based in Reston, VA

Travel: None

Remote Schedule: Will work as part of an overall team to provide needed coverage and support with remote work capability according to mission schedules.


Security Clearance:
Must be a United States Citizen and hold a current TS-SCI or TS with SCI eligibility security clearance.

Responsibilities

Intelligent Waves is growing rapidly and has an outstanding new opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer on our team, youll work with the DoD on the development of more robust systems by building a resilient infrastructure. Youll build in redundancy, implement monitoring tools, and automate wherever possible. Youll reduce toil by scripting routine tasks and automating self-repair. This is your chance to leverage your expertise in Kubernetes, Ansible, AWS Cloud Migration, Cloudera, and IaC, while assisting junior engineers and broadening your knowledge base. Work with us as we help our clients automate tasks so we can provide innovative solutions toward cloud migration.

As a site reliability administrator on our team, you will serve as a vital resource in mission-critical operations for back-end infrastructure supporting a high-profile client mission. You will aid in balancing O&M, DoD Security and Compliance, and Innovation. You will have the opportunity to co-lead the teams efforts in maintaining and scaling our clustered environments while leveraging your skills in Red Hat Linux Automation and Innovation. The team will support you as one of our Innovation Leaders and Technical Mentors as we collaborate and share knowledge across task areas, sub-teams, and workstreams. This is your chance to further your skills in SRE technologies while continuing to grow your own experience.

Salary is dependent on education level + years of relevant experience and will be determined by the DOD customer.



Qualifications

Required:

  • 3-5+ years of experience with management, security, and automation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in a multi-tenant enterprise network environment
  • Experience with security and compliance frameworks (i.e., DoD STIGs, NIST 800-53) and remediation strategies in RHEL environments
  • Proficient with automation tools like Ansible and Red Hat Satellite for the streamlining of operational tasks and maintaining compliance of systems
  • Ability to support weekly maintenance and respond to outages on a rotational basis, ensuring minimal disruption in multi-tenant operations in accordance with Operations SLAs
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, TS/SCI
  • DoD 8570/8140 for IAT2 Level Certification, including but not limited to Security + CE, Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA), and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

Desired:

  • Experience with Kubernetes orchestrations, scaling, and troubleshooting in multi-tenant environments
  • Experience building, maintaining, and securing CI/CD pipelines using DevSecOps principles in Kubernetes environment
  • Familiarity with managing and configuring Kubernetes environments, including tools like Rancher, Helm, and Harbor
  • Knowledge of container networking and security best practices within Kubernetes
  • Kubernetes certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator - CKA or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer - CKAD)
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and working on Agile teams using collaboration tools, including Jira, Confluence, or Discourse
  • Experience managing and deploying applications in an air-gapped environment
  • Experience working with CM tools, including Gitlab, Git-centric, and CI/CD workflows
