Meridian Knowledge Solutions (MKS) is looking for a full charge bookkeeper to join the team and ensure the company delivers on financial and business commitments. The position is responsible for handling all aspects of accounting operations, including the preparation of monthly financial statements. The position will be fully remote.
Essential Job Duties and Functions:
Handle all financial operations – including but not limited to, general ledger accounting and reconciliations, client invoicing and collections, vendor invoicing and payments, time and expense reporting, coordination of out-sourced tax return preparation, and 1099 preparation. Duties include the following:
Prepare and send client invoices
Maintain client contract tracking schedules
Post daily cash receipts and handle client collection activities
Post daily cash disbursements such as payroll, benefits, taxes, and other fees
Review vendor invoices, gather approvals, determine account coding, and enter in accounting system
Select invoices for weekly payment runs, print checks, and release ACH payments
Review corporate credit card activity on a monthly basis, gather receipts, determine account coding, and enter in accounting system
Review expense reports for policy compliance, determine account coding, and enter in accounting system on a monthly basis
Prepare monthly labor allocations and utilization reports
Prepare monthly commission calculations
Prepare quarterly 401k match calculations
Prepare monthly journal entries
Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure accurate balances are reflected in the financial statements
Prepare revenue and expense schedules for monthly internal reporting package
Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis
Review and analyze monthly financials for trend variances and research questions raised by management during the monthly financial reviews
Process daily interfaces and resolve exception errors between accounting and time-keeping systems
Process pay rate changes and timesheet adjustments in time-keeping system
Review and approve semi-monthly payroll registers
Prepare annual schedules for tax accounting firm and oversee out-sourced tax return preparation
Prepare 1099 forms and related IRS filings
Prepare monthly income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
Perform daily cash management duties, and maintain monthly cash forecasts
Handle annual financial audit
Regularly interact across functional areas with senior management to ensure business unit objectives are met
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associates degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
At least five years of relevant experience in full charge bookkeeping
Proficient in accrual basis of accounting
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including vlookups, pivot tables, and complex spreadsheets)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact with various levels of management
Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Desirable (but not required) Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
Experience working for a software organization and an understanding of the applicable software development and revenue recognition accounting standards
Experience working in a service-based organization and an understanding of the applicable revenue recognition accounting standards
Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting application
Experience with the Unanet project and resource management application
The compensation for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, 7 paid holidays and flexible paid time off.
