Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Global Quality, this role is a member of the Global Quality Leadership Team (GQLT) providing technical leadership to a team of quality engineers that lead or support initiatives across various quality domains within the value chain. Key responsibilities include driving Six Sigma projects, conducting root cause investigations for product quality issues, supporting design assurance in New Product Development, supporting multi-site quality investigations, participating in the internal audit program, and other quality-related initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily activities of engineers, manage resources, and ensure alignment with strategic priorities. Conduct succession planning and manage team performance.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to support team development. Plan and support skill development for current and future roles.
  • Think strategically about organizational structure and daily functions. Promote a safety-first and people-first culture.
  • Build team expertise in structured problem solving and robust root cause analysis. Champion the DMAIC process and critical thinking.
  • Implement reliability engineering methodologies, and identify tools and training to strengthen statistical modeling and techniques in support of product quality improvements.
  • Support New Product Development DFMEA activities and other design quality assurance activities where needed, and ensure on-going maintenance of DFMEA throughout product lifecycle
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to executive management and stakeholders. Communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Use appropriate methods to build a cohesive team and facilitate goal completion. Maintain relationships and share best practices with other quality leaders.
  • Identify, hire, and retain top-quality talent. Maintain visibility to training needs and establish programs to build a world-class team.


Qualifications

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent problem solving skills and experience with Six Sigma / DMAIC projects
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and Quality Management Systems
  • Technical aptitude with ability to understand and disseminate technical information and data
  • Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning methods, including familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to manage and lead cross-functional problem-solving
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Travel up to 5%
  • This position is available at two different career levels based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education:
    • Level one: At least 8 years relevant experience required
    • Level two: At least 10 years relevant experience required
    • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience; PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years.

Education Required:

  • B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline

Preferred:

  • Experience working with global teams / global projects.
  • Experience leading or directly supervising others
  • Experience in a global manufacturing multi-site organization
  • Quality experience with product that combines hardware and software
  • Familiarization with reliability engineering tools and methodologies, such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Highly Accelerated Limit Testing (HALT), Accelerated Life Testing (ALT)
