The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing support for growth activity of automated assembly equipment in support of high-speed assembly, form-fill and seal packaging, vacuum chambers, and final packaging/labeling operations in a Clean Room environment under the site engineering for the sutures manufacturing growth team.

The Manufacturing Engineer will support strategic project initiatives of absorbable suture product finished goods and sub-assembly families with specific regard to equipment qualification, equipment upgrades, and implementing transformational technology changes into current process that directly improve OEE, output, yield, and cost savings opportunities. The Manufacturing Engineer will be a point of contact for Capital Equipment upgrades, process development and process validations of new and current automated equipment. Duties include participating in cross functional teams to accomplish project and site-specific goals.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Lead and execute validation processes in new and current equipment (IQ,OQ,PQ).

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs.

  • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, Machine Risk Assessments, and CTQ processes assuring specifications are well-defined and documented.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have


  • Experience with capital equipment acquisitions: Design Reviews, FAT, SATs.

  • Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills

  • Assist in creating equipment specifications to vendors for quoting automated and manual equipment.

  • Solid organizational, functional coordination and presentation skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$79,200.00 - $118,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
