Nemours is seeking an Office Coordinator (Laboratory), Full-Time, to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware.
The NCH-DE Outpatient Specimen Collection Area is a very fast paced, high volume patient service center, serving both Nemours and the community providing pediatric phlebotomy. This front desk position is responsible for coordinating outpatient visits and laboratory orders, handling patient check-in, and referral of patient specimens to correct laboratory utilize EPIC and various tools. Exceptional customer service is essential for this role.
Essential responsibilities include:
Coordinates outpatient specimen collection services. This includes utilizing the electronic medical record, hospital and laboratory information systems, for efficient processing of orders for laboratory tests, and provides support service for the department.
Verifies appropriate outpatient patient phlebotomy services are delivered by ensuring the proper performing laboratory is utilized based on a patient's insurance.
Appropriate performing laboratory is indicated on all laboratory orders. Distinguish errors in resulting agency and resolve discrepancies according to protocol.
Collaborate with the various divisions within the hospital, ACC and ancillary staff to ensure that appropriate authorization is obtained with minimal stress to the family/patient.
Utilizes the hospital and laboratory information systems for the ordering of laboratory tests. Is able to utilize appropriate resources when patient's orders are not readily available. Uses other information systems as required for job function.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related experience required.
