The Equipment Reliability Leader is responsible for achieving high-level asset reliability while optimizing costs through the development and implementation of a site-wide reliability program. This role involves leading a team of equipment reliability engineers, controls and vision technicians, and machine designers, with oversight of the tool room. The Equipment Reliability Leader will build effective communication with other teams (e.g., PM team, Product Line team) and coordinate ongoing internal projects and activities for priority assets to ensure an optimal maintenance plan is developed to address weak components and eliminate repetitive/costly breakdowns, continuously optimizing assets.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Implement reliability centered maintenance strategy, provide leadership and expertise to reliability team and beyond to ensure eradication of significant and repetitive breakdowns, achieve high reliability and lower cost.
Responsible for the site equipment classification evaluation and the definition of site maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods, aligning with maintenance budget and equipment classification.
Maintains effective partnership and supports Product Line and PM teams to diagnose high-complexity breakdowns and provide coaching during root-cause investigation promoting reliability tools & techniques.
Ensures harmonization of processes, promotes, and enforces technical standards maintaining up-to-date knowledge and awareness of improvement methodologies and new techniques in maintenance.
Ensures optimal availability, maintainability, and reliability of new equipment as well as assets documentation, including manuals, schemes and other related documents, maintenance plans.
Monitor and control site Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), failure trends and maintenance costs to identify priorities, possible asset modification or decommissioning required.
Benchmark engineering and Maintenance results against other BD sites and external references.
Actively participate and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout organization including Change to Win (C2W) savings program to maintain a high level of operational excellence and contribute to site objectives by leading initiatives to reduce cost with spare parts.
Coordinate the implementation of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) tools and techniques.
Provides servant leadership and motivation to technical and hourly associates to achieve desired quality, quantity, service and cost standards through safe and proper utilization of materials and equipment Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Additional Responsibilities:
Build a HighPerforming reliability team that helps meet or exceed defined objectives (e.g. Maintenance cost, OEE, MTTR, MTBF)
Achieve high level asset reliability at optimal cost
Improve site asset life cycle
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelors in Engineering required; degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
10+ years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required, preferably in the medical devices industry.
Proven leader with 5+ years of prior supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team.
5+ years of proven experience in the application of reliability tools and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of reliability-centered maintenance strategies and tools.
Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work with technical personnel and understand technical aspects of the role.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
