Job Overview:

To use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for the purpose of quality control and/or analysis and resolving problems.
Sampling and testing of bituminous mixtures for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance. Testing will include maximum theoretical specific gravity, bulk specific gravity, calculations of air voids, VMA, VFA, extractions gradation of bituminous mixtures, gradation of fine and coarse aggregates, specific gravity of aggregate, angularity index of fine aggregate and bulk specific gravity of cores.

Monitor and test process functions & materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
Correct any deviations in these processes or materials from the requirements.
Prepare and record accurate information and forward to personnel in a timely manner.
Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.
Evaluate data for deviations or trends away from accepted standards.
Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
Assist internal and external customers in any quality related matters.
Other duties as assigned.

• Must pass a company physical, drug screen, alcohol screen, and criminal background check.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
• Must maintain a current/valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Will be required to meet Company Driver Qualifications Standards
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work various hours including overtime during days, nights and weekends when necessary.
• Report to the assigned job site wearing adequate clothing for the work being performed with proper PPE and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
• Maintain reliable attendance, meeting company standards.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
Previous testing/quality experience highly desired.
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Able to read, comprehend, and communicate in English.
Excellent math skills are required.
Strong computer skills are required.

2-3 years of roadway construction experience preferred.
Analytical and problem solving skills required.
Able to work independently with attention to detail. Able to respond to stressful situations and customers in a professional, courteous manner.
Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines.
Able to write reports, document findings and procedures, effectively present information and respond to questions.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
Color matching skills.

Physical Demands:
• Able to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
• Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Able to climb ladders and to work at heights.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Able to regularly lift 25 pounds or more and occasionally lift and/or move any where up to 50 lbs
• This position requires use of certain testing equipment such as scales, ovens, etc.

Work Environment:
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; or burn.
• The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate.
