The Network Engineer will be accountable for providing design, deployment and day-to-day operation of all physical, virtual, and cloud-native network infrastructure and establishing standards for the maintenance and configuration in support of strategic business goals at Rehrig Pacific.
Areas of Accountabilities
Establish standards and procedures to ensure that the physical, virtual, and cloud network infrastructure at Rehrig Pacific is ready and able to scale to meet the demands of the business.
Ensure appropriate plans are in place to keep the current network operating at peak efficiency, meeting or exceeding uptime SLAs, while establishing a strategy to evolve the network architecture to reflect the changing needs of the technology sphere and business needs.
Oversee and maintain core network services, including DHCP, DNS, BGP, SSL VPN, SD-WAN, Zero Trust, SMTP/Message Delivery, Avaya phone and VOIP.
Establish and test the plans for business continuity and disaster recovery, confirming availability of core network functions pursuant to relevant BC/DR plans.
Proactively identify opportunities to leverage emerging technology to improve the efficiency of the network architecture, including leveraging IaC and configuration management tools, as well as creating strategies around SDN, SD-WAN, Cloud PBX, Zero Trust, and micro segmentation.
Lead the deployment (or redeployment) of AWS VPC networking, enterprise firewalls, switches, routers, and phone systems and manage the maintenance of deployed infrastructure.
Proactively design for resilience and availability for critical systems.
The Engineer will leverage platform expertise for the various deployed systems to harden configurations, limiting the network attack surface, and to establish maintenance protocols and design standards to ensure the availability and consistent performance of those platforms.
Create documentation on the data flow, network architecture, and daily operation and troubleshooting for all network infrastructure and maintain that documentation in an ongoing fashion to ensure that all stakeholders have access to relevant and useful information to support their use of the corporate network.
Function as an escalation point for technical support and troubleshooting.
Be on call as a Tier 3 escalation point for user support requests for network connectivity and will apply expertise both for consulting and hands-on troubleshooting/problem resolution.
Coordinate support activities with external vendors where required for problem resolution
