As a Control Systems Engineer with Manitowoc Cranes, you’ll work with a team to design, implement, and revise control systems to meet product requirements. In the concept phase the candidate will be documenting and designing control systems based on input from a product development team and product specifications. Crane control systems incorporate electrical, hydraulic and software subsystem to meet product requirements. During the detailed design phase of projects, you will be implementing and testing control systems. This testing is done statically, on test benches, and on cranes. As needed, engineers will support product service, and production. A typical work week is Monday through Thursday in office, and Fridays remote. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Engineering and is in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Write requirements, design and document control systems for new product.
Use your fundamental knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and software systems to collaborate with product development team.
Ability to troubleshoot control systems that incorporate hydraulic, electrical and software subsystems.
Clearly define steps to complete assigned tasks and accurately estimate time to complete tasks. Must be able to define risk of a given task that would delay completion.
Collaborate with groups within the engineering, production, production service, and testing departments.
Take responsibility for your mistakes with a positive attitude and provide a correction and prevention plan as we move forward.
Supervise internal or external contractors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience engineering equipment or in a related industry.
Ability to work in an office environment and occasional visit to job site, test yard, and factory.
Must be able to follow safety guidelines while supporting the production and test department.
Must be able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Must be able to perform Essential Job Functions (listed above).
Must be able to read and understand C and Simulink code.
Good communication skills required.
Must be able to work independently with a strong work ethic and have a proven track record of project execution.
Must complete safety reviews in support of our safety culture.
Required to be able to climb a ladder to the height of 12 ft.
